On May 14 and 15, 2025, the Social Econ­o­my Sum­mit was held in Mon­tréal. The event brought togeth­er stake­hold­ers from the eco­nom­ic, cul­tur­al, envi­ron­men­tal, polit­i­cal, com­mu­ni­ty, and research sec­tors. Speak­ing with one voice, they empha­sized that in the face of an unchanged eco­nom­ic mod­el that con­tin­ues to gen­er­ate social and envi­ron­men­tal crises, the social econ­o­my stands out as an essen­tial path forward.

Dri­ven by com­mu­ni­ties and guid­ed by col­lec­tive well-being, the social econ­o­my pro­vides the foun­da­tions need­ed to build an econ­o­my that tru­ly serves soci­ety, while respect­ing the planet’s limits.

The social econ­o­my thus offers a mod­el that reflects who we are and brings us togeth­er. It already exists—and we are deter­mined to help it grow. Togeth­er, we affirm our com­mit­ment to an econ­o­my that works in our favor.
